You can even make a mouthwash out of it by mixing 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of salt with a cup of water.
Milk of magnesia is also considered one of the good home remedies for canker sores. All you have to do is take a cotton swab soaked in milk of magnesia and apply it directly on the affected area. Try this 2 to 3 times a day. Aloe vera sap is also an effective way to treat Aphthous Stomatitis. Applying aloe vera sap on the sores will give you relief from the pain and will help in treating the sores too.
Eating garlic cloves also helps in treating the sores. Yogurt helps in subduing the pain caused by canker sores. So try to add one bowl of yogurt in your diet and make it a daily routine until the sores vanishes. Applying tea tree oil directly on the Aphthous Stomatitis is beneficial. To get relief from the pain and for quick healing you can apply some alum on the sores.
Onion has many medicinal properties which help in treating sores; you can apply raw onion juice on the sores. Grapefruit juice can also be used to treat Aphthous Stomatitis. Add few drops of grapefruit juice in a cup of water and gargle it. Eating lots of papaya helps in healing the Aphthous Stomatitis fast. Chewing papaya leaves is also beneficial since the extracts of these leaves have medicinal properties.
Honey is a natural healer for all kinds of sores so applying honey to the sores is also a good idea. Coconut milk is one of the simplest home remedies for canker sores, just gargle with coconut milk twice a day and see its effects. While you are suffering from Aphthous Stomatitis you should avoid hot, spicy and salty foods. One should also avoid sweets as well as toothpaste made of Sodium lauryl sulphate since it irritates Aphthous Stomatitis. Home Remedies for Canker Sores - Natural Remedy
Canker Sores, also known as Aphthous Stomatitis, are common ulcers that appear on the inside lining of the mouth, or even on the tongue. They are very different from cold sores caused by herpes virus, which appear on the lips. It hurt a lot while eating or talking, and are characterized by small white dots of about a centimeter or more with redness all around them. If not treated soon, these could cause a lot of discomfort and itching.
It usually occur in women and teenagers who normally undergo hormonal changes. Faulty or acidic foods too could be the cause of canker sores. Other reasons could be stress or anxiety, anemia, deficiency of nutrition like folic acid and B12, or lack of dental hygiene. In some cases, they could occur from an accidental injury in the mouth, like being hurt with a hard toothbrush or being bruised while eating hard wafers etc. Aphthous Stomatitis are not contagious, but some larger ones could be accompanied by fever.
Hot or spicy foods could be difficult to eat when one is suffering from canker sores. These sores could take 6-7 days to heal, but the more severe ones that appear in clusters and are bigger, could take longer. To solve the problem, there are some home remedies for canker sores that provide relief from the pain and itching.
A gargle of warm water with a little salt, 2-3 times a day gives immense relief. Also, rinsing one's mouth with aloe juice is one the simplest and most effective home remedies for Aphthous Stomatitis.
